Why the Kim Shipton Method stands out from the rest?

Unlike most other Pilates courses, you do not need a Mat Pilates qualification to enrol, all we ask is that you’ve completed 30 Reformer sessions. That means you can become a certified Reformer Pilates Instructor in half the time.

This is a 4-day intensive course, designed to train you in a fresh, dynamic style of Reformer Pilates. You won’t leave as a standard instructor, you’ll graduate as an upbeat, confident, and welcoming teacher, equipped with advanced techniques.

You’ll learn how to incorporate weights, props, deep stretching, and energising flows that leave your clients feeling strong, open, and restored. This is about more than just teaching, it’s about helping people feel their absolute best.

Here from our graduates

  • "Kim is so inviting and accommodating to different needs! I always feel so comfortable in your studio"

  • "Incredible knowledge and really welcoming"

  • "Want to say thank you for yesterday's class! You're definitely the best teacher"

What you will study:

  • Day 1

    • Introduces the reformer

    • Learn set up and maintenance of the machine

    • Theory

The theory element is a big part of pilates principles, similar to what you would learn in your Mat qualification. You will understand the importance of the fundamentals of pilates, correct alignment of your clients on the machine and set up of exercises.

    Day 2

    • Basic and intermediate pilates exercises on the reformer.

    • You will be expected to learn and present a 30 min flow based on exercises learned so far, with feedback provided by email afterwards.

  • Day 1

This is where the course gets fun and incorporates my signature style.

    • Full day of Jump Board. Lots of high energy prop driven exercises and sequences that get you burning in all the right places!

    Day 2

    • Continues with more dynamic moves including weights, the magic circle and pilates ball. Guaranteed to get you thinking outside the ‘pilates box’.

  • Day 1

    • This module starts with very advanced pilates exercises that result in a super challenging day of workouts, even for the fittest of pilates professionals!

    Day 2

    • Class choreography -important as a teacher to create your own signature flows, lower back pain, pre and post-natal clients and osteoporosis. You will have the tools to teach a multitude of clients.

The class and assessments are included to get you comfortable teaching in front of others and to get ideas and feedback on how to teach safely and improve your cueing of the exercises. Nothing to be worried about,  just a friendly forum to get used to teaching!

  • Practical Requirements

90 practice teaching hours must be completed either:

    Teaching friends or family

Or, if you don’t have a reformer at home, by observing in a studio

You’ll need to provide dates and times for these hours.

    Anatomy & Physiology Online Exam

Before testing out, you must also complete an online Anatomy and Physiology course and exam (additional cost: £29).

  • Upon successful completion, you’ll become a fully qualified Reformer Pilates Instructor, trained in the renowned Kim Shipton Method and certified to teach in studios globally. Our graduates are now living their dream careers across the world, from Australia and Canada to Dubai, Barbados, and Ireland.

If you’d like a personal recommendation from one of our qualified instructors, we’re more than happy to connect you.
