Why the Kim Shipton Method stands out from the rest?

Unlike most other Pilates courses, you do not need a Mat Pilates qualification to enrol. All we ask is that you have completed 10 to 20 Reformer sessions. This means you can become a certified Reformer Pilates Instructor in half the time.

This is an intensive course offering 24 hours of in-person, hands-on learning. You will be actively working on and off the reformer throughout the training, depending on group size. The course runs across 3 to 5 days and is split into three focused modules, so you build real confidence through practice, not just theory.

At the heart of the training is the Kim Shipton Method, a dynamic, athletic style of Reformer Pilates. Throughout the programme, you will learn how to deliver high-energy sequences, powerful circuits, and intelligently layered workouts that truly challenge the body while staying safe and effective.

The programme is designed to train you in a fresh, modern approach to Reformer Pilates. You will not leave as a standard instructor. You will graduate as an upbeat, confident and welcoming teacher, fully equipped with advanced techniques you can use immediately with clients.

You will learn how to incorporate weights, props, deep stretching, and energising flows that leave your clients feeling strong, open and restored. This training is about more than just teaching exercises. It is about helping people feel their absolute best in their bodies.

What you will study:

    • Introduces the reformer

    • Learn set up and maintenance of the machine

    • Theory

The theory element is a big part of pilates principles, similar to what you would learn in your Mat qualification. You will understand the importance of the fundamentals of pilates, correct alignment of your clients on the machine and set up of exercises.

    • Basic and intermediate pilates exercises on the reformer.

  • This is where the course gets fun and incorporates my signature style.

    • Full day of Jump Board. Lots of high energy prop driven exercises and sequences that get you burning in all the right places!

    • Continues with more dynamic moves including weights, the magic circle and pilates ball. Guaranteed to get you thinking outside the ‘pilates box’.

  • This module begins with advanced Pilates exercises designed to challenge even the fittest Pilates professionals, creating a powerful and energising training day.

You will also focus on class choreography, learning how to create your own signature flows as a teacher. We will cover key client considerations including lower back pain, pre and post-natal clients, and osteoporosis, so you leave with the confidence and tools to support a wide range of clients.

Throughout the module, you will practise your cueing with one another in a supportive, friendly environment. We will regularly break into small groups so you can refine your teaching style, build confidence, and receive real-time feedback on the reformer.
