FAQS
Answers to most questions can be found below, but if you still need more information, please get in touch.
This is not a one-size-fits-all, corporate training programme. You’ll train in small groups (max 8-10 participants), with a fully hands-on approach and ongoing mentorship. The method itself blends classical Pilates with dynamic, strength-focused training, so you leave with a teaching style that actually stands out and gets results.
No. You don’t need a Mat Pilates or fitness qualification to enrol. We simply ask that you’ve completed around 10–20 Reformer Pilates sessions (unless you already come from a fitness background) so you’re familiar with the machine and movement style, and of course have a passion for it!
To enrol, simply select your preferred course start date and book online. You can select a payment plan at the checkout.
Once you have secured your start date, we'll be in touch to confirm your in-person course dates (whether you'd prefer 3-5 days intensive OR splitting modules across different months).
If you'd prefer to speak to us directly first, or would like to request a bespoke workshop or course that comes to you, please get in touch.
See upcoming course dates here.
The course follows a clear 3-phase journey:
In-person training (24 hours across 3–5 days)
Independent practice hours (90 hours of real-world teaching on family and friends & observation in your own time)
Final assessments
For a full breakdown of everything you'll learn on your course, see the overview here.
In order to receive your CPD certification you must complete:
90 hours of logged, real-world practice and observation
Anatomy & Physiology online exam
60-minute practical final assessment
Written examination
This structure ensures you don’t just qualify - you feel confident teaching in your own dynamic, in-demand style of Reformer Pilates.
To work seamlessly with busy schedules, you can pick the course module dates that work for you. ie. either 3-5 days intensive OR splitting modules across different months.
You’re in safe hands! Once you've selected your start date, you can then mix and match the modules with other course dates to suit your schedule. Please get in touch to arrange once you've secured your place by selecting a start date and paying your course fee (or payment plan).
If the scheduled training dates don’t quite work for you, we will always do our best to be as flexible as possible.
You also have the option to arrange a private 1:1 training on a date that suits your diary (you may just need to bring a friend along for your mock assessment).
Training is based in Stapleford, Hertfordshire, UK, with plenty of parking available. The academy also travels internationally to deliver training in studios around the world. Please get in touch if you'd like Kim to host training where you are.
You’ll have access to the Kim Shipton studio to complete your independent Pilates practice hours (in your own time), and you’re invited to watch live classes local to you and use these observations to strengthen your own teaching skills and confidence on the reformer.
Note: access to the studio is subject to availability.
Upon successful completion of your course (including practical and written assessments and required practice hours), you’ll receive a globally-recognised, CPD accredited qualification from the Kim Shipton Method. On passing the course, you will be able to teach Reformer Pilates professionally.
